Planning for Education Beyond the High School

Every bit of education an individual can acquire after high school increases the chances he or she will be able to have a successful career. Most college graduates earn more money during their working years than people who stop their education at high school earn.

The more education a studdents get the more likely it is they will always have a job. According to one estimate, by the year 2028 there will be 19 million more jobs for educated workers than there are qualified people to fill them.

Continuing education after high school is much more important for the current generation than it was for past generations. Today, most good jobs require more than a high school diploma. Businesses want to hire people who know how to think and solve problems.

Education beyond high school gives a person a lot of other benefits, including meeting new people, taking part in new opportunities to explore individual interests, and experiencing success.

Senior Project

Each year seniors must present an in-depth presentation about a possible career. Before making the presentation, each senior must research  a career and write at least a ten page paper. These projects help our seniors realize the importance of education beyond high school and the amount of dedication and hard work required to be successful in the modern world.

University of Washington Classes

Through the University of Washington in the High School (UWHS) program, high school students can complete University of Washington courses and earn college credit in their own classrooms with their own teachers. Students and teachers use UW curriculum, activities, texts, tests, and grading scales.

Students earn a final grade over time; a grade does not depend on one exam. Students receive recognition for their UW work at most public institutions and many private ones.
